2:30 PM – Energy Transition & Regulatory Compliance

Turning Constraints into Opportunities

Eva Maxson is Project manager and engineer at Deplasse & Associés (ALTEO Group), a Brussels engineering and consultancy firm that supports companies and public authorities through the energy transition, both from a bottom-up technical approach and a top-down strategic approach. She advises building owners, operators and occupiers on energy performance and regulatory compliance across Belgium’s three regions, with a focus on ESG strategic advice, environmental permitting, energy audits and project coordination.

This session will look at the energy and compliance pressures reshaping the workspace sector — rising energy costs, European and regional obligations, and ESG requirements cascading down from clients to operators — and at how they impact both the tenants and the owners. The session will discuss who is responsible for what between owner and occupier, before discussing several levers that workspace operators can pull, even when they “don’t own the walls”. (Illustrated with concrete Belgian case studies).
